Prelims Preparation Strategy by Anirudh Jain IAS

So, most of the speculations on Prelims 2023 cutoff, its difficulty and answer keys are now over. Let me clarify my stand on this.

The GS and CSAT both were extremely difficult to solve vis-a-vis the papers of previous years. It can be said that it was somewhat unconventional paper in the last 9-10 years.

Some questions were conventional, but those were not sufficient to clear the cutoff mark.

According to me, if you are getting 78-80 or above, start preparing for mains 2023 for which i will soon be uploading the comprehensive strategy and notes.

Do not get disheartened, if you have age, have attempts and resources, take a break and start preparing for 2024. If you don’t have such luxury, be practical, look for alternatives. There is no shame, infact it is a reflection of a wise person. Plan B in UPSC prep. Is becoming a necessity that will boost your confidence and in some way your performance in UPSC also.

GS 4 Strategy by Anirudh Jain IAS

STRATEGY FOR GS4

  1. Syllabus mapping, prepare notes from the points mentioned in syllabus on each term such as integrity, good governance, etc. On intro. Body conclusion format only.
  2. Note down examples mostly recent, concrete, current and real life examples for each term. Avoid vague and old examples as they will not fetch you good marks.
  3. Use scholars and thinkers in intro and conclusions ; try to add them in case studies also.
  4. 2nd ARC 4th report (DARPG website) original read it and prepare questions and answers from that. Read it atleast 2-3 times.
  5. No need for any specific book as such, stick to syllabus, PYQs, toppers copies and their way of writing case studies.
  6. Prepare separate handouts of examples only for every term mentioned in syllabus. Last time revision of examples only benifits a lot.
  7. Lastly, Writing answers is important on daily basis after qualifying prelims.
