Gautham Raj, an IPS candidate, improved his performance by earning the 63rd spot in the UPSC CSE 2022. He now belongs to the ‘IAS’ group.
Senior finance officer Somarajan Pillai, his father, is retired. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Memorial School’s head teacher, R Sushama Devi, is his mother. Archana, the wife of Gautham, is currently employed in Mangaluru as an income tax assistant commissioner after earning the 99th overall ranking in the CSE 2019 exam. A chartered accountant is his brother Arun Raj.

Gautham, an IIT Kanpur graduate, has always wanted to work in the government. In his prior efforts in 2019, 2020, and 2021, he had earned ranks of 353, 310, and 210, respectively.
He is currently undergoing IPS training at Hyderabad National Police Academy.
