Swati Sharma, a native of Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, attended school and received her diploma there. She graduated from Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya with a degree in computer science and technology in 2019. Swati started her journey towards preparation for the civil services exams after graduating. She initially spent a year getting ready in Delhi. However, she decided to return to Jabalpur and complete her preparations from there when the Covid-19 lockdown began in 2020. Despite the difficulties the pandemic presented, Swati persisted in her quest of the civil services and skillfully adjusted to the situation while pursuing her objective.

Swati Sharma, her parents, her younger brother, and her grandmother all reside in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. Her father is from a middle-class family and works in the transportation industry. In her preparation, Swati Sharma used a balanced approach, giving each area equal time, such as General Studies, Current Affairs, optional subjects, and newspaper analysis. She built frequent pauses into her study schedule to save herself from getting too stressed out.
Swati, who spent about 10 to 12 hours a day studying, recognised the substantial contributions of her teachers and parents but gave herself credit for 50% of her accomplishment.
She recognised her mistakes and made serious efforts to correct them after learning from her previous attempts. Swati concentrated on enhancing her presentation by include pertinent data and statistics in her planning. She used flowcharts and bullet points instead of long paragraphs to make her replies easier for the examiners to understand. Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, Swati Sharma had severe difficulties when she moved from Delhi to Jabalpur in June 2020. She had difficulties, one of which being the scarcity of UPSC study materials in her new area. She resorted to having the study materials couriered from Delhi to get over this problem, but because to the lockdown regulations it took around 15 days for them to get to her. But Swati found comfort in internet sources, especially in YouTube videos, which were essential to her preparation process. She also changed to reading newspapers online because it takes two days or more to get physical copies of national newspapers in Jabalpur.

In her third attempt, Swati began the UPSC CSE 2022 exam. She failed to pass the Prelims exam in her first attempt in 2020. In spite of her setbacks, Swati persisted and succeeded on her second try in 2021. She advanced to the interview phase after passing both the Prelims and Mains exams. But despite her best efforts, she was not chosen in the end.
Swati was determined to succeed and after her second attempt saw she needed to put in more effort. She started making preparations again with newfound vigour. She chose sociology as her elective because of the market’s supply of reading materials and because she was personally interested in the topic. After three unsuccessful tries, Swati finally succeeded in passing the UPSC CSE exam with an outstanding All India Rank of 15.
Swati Sharma Future Plans
She had a tremendous desire to become a civil servant because she wanted to encourage other girls and improve the status of women in society. Swati hopes to use her position as an IAS official to improve her country and its citizens. She wants to empower women by giving them the resources and skills they need to be financially independent. Swati is deeply committed to advancing inclusive education and making a positive impact on the country’s general socioeconomic development in addition to her concerns for the safety of women.
