Hello! I’m delighted to have you here. I’ll introduce myself briefly right now. Anu Beniwal is my name, and I’m from Pitampura in Delhi. I earned my B.Sc. and M.Sc. with honours in Physics from Hindu College of Delhi University before engaging in nanoscience research for a number of years.
I’ve always been motivated to take the UPSC civil services examination, but it took me some time to begin my study process due to various personal issues. Since I gave it a shot before beginning my training, I wasted one try and fervently urge you never to.
I started a thorough preparation in January 2018 and attempted it that same year. I failed the preliminary exams, and after that first failure, I was completely destroyed. But I made the decision to keep going.
I passed the 2019 preliminary exams, however I failed the 2019 main exams primarily due to my geography optional, which I only received 211 marks for.
2020 was the attempt that changed my life because I completed the process with a 638 rating and was assigned DANIPS as my service.
I made the decision to rewrite my essay, and I’m thankful that my 2021 try scored a 217. I’m now going through IPS training.
Now let’s discuss the planning process. We almost all have the same book lists and notes, but even so, we end ourselves in different spots. Beyond effort and commitment, I believe it is important to focus on quality material, practise it frequently, and receive an accurate evaluation of the practise papers.
To me, high-quality material is adhering to the course syllabus and making your own notes from the best sources available.
In terms of essay preparation, I went from a score of 119 to 126 before reaching a final score of 135 in the 2021 test. I gathered several quotes, news articles, tales, real-life situations, etc., on potential subjects using newspaper and online searches. In my previous attempt, I concentrated on include some ethical and emotional components as well. To summarise, I wrote short, lovely articles. Thank goodness the UPSC rewarded this approach.
Now let’s go on to the GS exams. I scored 413 points this year, which is 57 points more than my total from the 2020 attempt in GS. I nearly exclusively used my own compiled notes, therefore I believe that the shift in answer-writing methodology was a major factor in the improvement. I used to write quite wordy answers in the past, which made it challenging for me to manage my time. This year, I made an effort to adhere to the deadlines. Even though I didn’t get all the questions in GS 1 and GS 3, I was still able to finish my assignments this year more successfully overall.
Geography is my elective, and it is notorious for being cruel to students. In the subsequent mains, I received scores of 211, 248 and 244. After my GS examinations in my previous attempt, I became pretty ill, which negatively impacted my optional. My first three questions on paper 2 were blank, which would have lost me 40 marks in a row. In my last two attempts, I used the standard books as a starting point for my own notes, which I then enhanced with the coaching materials on the market.
