Thomas Edison was experimenting with electricity.
He conducted 700 experiments—and failed 700 times.
Three years passed.
His students and colleagues grew exhausted, completely worn out.
But he showed no fatigue.
Every morning he arrived again and began work.
He kept working until midnight.
One day, all his colleagues said,
“Please forgive us. Three years have passed.
We have done 700 experiments, and all have failed.
What more is needed? Failure is now certain.”
Edison was startled.
“Failure is certain?” he said.
“Have you gone mad? Success is very near!”
“We have knocked on 700 doors and checked them all.
If there are 1,000 doors, only 300 remain.
And if there is only one right door among 700, then now only that one remains.”
“We are coming closer.
We have knocked on 700 doors and found nothing there.
We have not failed.”
