“The rationale behind providing reservations is to promote inclusion of the socially backward and ostracised section, not to serve as a measure of economic upliftment.

  • SC ruled that —
    • Inter-state migration will not result into the transfer of reservation claims of an individual in the new state 
    • Delhi — national policy of reservation will be applied — Delhi is a mini-India
    • As always — the intellectual class is divided on this ruling
  • 10% reservation for ‘Economically Weaker Sections’ — Constitutional Amendment 
    • <8 LPA | <5 Acre land | <100 gaj home 
    •  SINHO COMMISSION
  •  This is in contrast with the 2006 UPA govt. decision to give 27% reservations to the OBCs where there was a provision of state’s support!
