H.S. Bhavana, a resident of Bengaluru who is currently employed as an Indian Railways Traffic Service (IRTS) officer in Solapur, Maharashtra, achieved an All India Rank (AIR) of 55 and was named the State’s top candidate in the Civil Service Examination – 2022.
This was accomplished by Ms. Bhavana, a Banashankari native and engineering graduate, on her sixth try to pass the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exams. She received an AIR of 314 in 2018, was hired as an IRTS officer, and is now employed by the Central Railway’s Solapur division as an assistant operating manager.

“I graduated with an engineering degree from Sri Venkateswara Engineering College in Yelahanka, Bengaluru, after completing my education at Bishop Cotton Girls High School. I passed the CSE on my fourth try in 2018 and was subsequently hired as an IRTS officer. I attempted the CSE once more in 2019 and failed the viva. I did not attempt any tests in 2020 or 2021. However, I took the CSE examinations once more in 2022—for the sixth time—and managed to place well—55th.
I hope that I get an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) post and I will opt for Karnataka,” she said.

Through Google Meet, Zoom, or group calls, we had discussions. I managed to fit it in between work, travel, lunch, and weekends.
