Leaving the career of modeling, getting involved in the preparation of Civil Services Examination of the Union Public Service Commission and then not giving up even after failing thrice. The name of the one who proved successful in the end is Taskin Khan.

Taskin Khan is beauty with brain. She has come a long way from becoming a beauty queen to a bureaucrat. Former Miss Uttarakhand has lived. Was decorating the dream of Miss India. Meanwhile the trend turned towards civil service.
Taskin Khan, who secured 736th rank in UPSC Civil Services Examination 2022, is a resident of Dehradur in Uttarakhand. Couldn’t even clear the pre in three attempts.

Succeeded on the fourth attempt


In an interview, Taskin Khan told that earlier he was an average student. There were very less numbers in the subject of mathematics in the eighth. Although scored 90 percent marks in 10th-12th. Failed in UPSC three times in a row, but did not stop working hard. The result is in front of everyone.

Taskeen is a model by profession. Left modeling to become a civil servant. Apart from this, she was also a national debater and basketball champion. Qualified the entrance exam for admission in NIT. Could not get admission in NIT due to lack of money.


Referring to her UPSC journey, Taskin Khan says that she remains very active on social media. A follower on Instagram was preparing for UPSC. That’s why he was also motivated for UPSC. Then Haj House went to Mumbai to prepare for UPSC.

Taskin’s family currently lives in Meerut. Father Aftab Khan, mother Shaheen Khan and younger sister Alija Khan supported a lot during UPSC preparation. Taskin got free UPSC coaching from Jamia Millia Islamia in the year 2020.


Taskin Khan’s father Aftab Khan was a Group D employee in the Ordnance Factory. His father fell ill while preparing for UPSC 2022. Stayed in the hospital for four months. Father was admitted in ICU when she appeared in the main examination.

Former Miss Uttarakhand Taskeen Khan had hoped to one day become Miss India. But because of a change in her life, the former beauty queen is now going to be a top government official. When the results of the prestigious civil services test were released recently, Taskeen got an all-India rank of 736, which was good enough to pass.

Taskeen is a big deal on social media and has a lot of fans. Between 2016 and 2017, she won both the Ms. Dehradun and the Ms. The next step for her was to perform on a national stage. But after her father retired, she chose to go in a different direction and made it her goal to pass the UPSC CSE exam. After three failed tries and a “test of patience and hard work,” she finally passed the most difficult test.

Taskeen did not do very well in school when he was younger. In a recent interview, she said that maths was not her best subject until 8th grade. But she got back on her feet and scored above 90% in the science stream on the Class 10 and Class 12 board tests. Taskeen was also a winner at basketball and a national-level debater. He also worked as a model and actor for a living. She got into NIT after high school, but her parents couldn’t pay the fees.

The BSC graduate talked about how she prepared for UPSC after she got the job. She said that her path to the UPSC was not like most. A person who follows her on Instagram and wants to be an IAS officer gave her the idea to try for UPSC. Then, she went to Mumbai to study at the Hajj House for the UPSC exam.

Then, she took advantage of Jamia’s free coaching for entrance exams and went to Delhi in 2020. Taskeen Khan passed the coveted test even though his father’s small pension made money tight at home. He is now on track to get his dream job as a top government official.

FAQs

IAS Bio: What did you think of your score? How did you feel at first?


Taskeen Khan: I had no idea I would do well on the test. I was so scared that I didn’t want to know how I did. I was no longer hungry. A friend of mine told me what my score was.


UPSC is thought to be one of the hardest tests. Not many people were able to get it right away. How many times did you try before you got it right?


Taskeen Khan: I tried this for the fourth time. I didn’t make it to my prelims because of the Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT). I think the CSAT is kind of hard for me. This time, though, I was able to figure it out.

IAS Bio: How long have you been studying?


Taskeen Khan: I didn’t count, but I did a lot of studying. I was never a particularly good student. I used to write notes and stick them on the walls to help me learn. I always took my studies seriously and did them every day.


IAS Bio: It’s a long way from modelling to public service.


Taskeen Khan: My path to the civil service was a little different from that of other people who want to work there because I used to be a model. I also tried singing, and I used to be in plays and theatre.
I was getting ready for the Miss India competition, but I didn’t win because I was too tall. I fell just 2 mm short of the height requirement. I was very sad at the time. My father told me to keep doing well in school because I am good at it.
In 2019, I passed the test for the Haj Committee. I went to Mumbai to study, and then I started getting ready for the UPSC.


IAS Bio: Tell us about how you went to school.


Taskeen Khan: I was born in Meerut, which is in Uttar Pradesh. We moved to Dehradun because my dad got a job at an ordinance plant there. I learned at Kendriya Vidyalaya in Dehradun. After my father retired in 2018, we moved back to Meerut.
I could not continue any professional courses due to financial constraints. I even got into NIT after 12th grade, but my family couldn’t pay the fee.


IAS Bio: One of your Instagram followers told us that you were moved to try out for UPSC.


Taskeen Khan: I got my degree from a public college. I never thought of anything for my master’s. One of the people who follow me on Instagram was going to the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie to learn for the Indian Administrative Service. He gave me more information about the civil service test.
After I passed the Haj Committee test, the Haj Committee teachers gave me a lot to think about. After that, I went to Jamia Milia Islamia in Delhi to study more.


IAS Bio: Are you sad that you weren’t able to get IAS?


Taskeen Khan: The word “satisfaction” is what my name means. I’m happy with how things turned out. My family has had trouble making ends meet. My biggest goal is to do something first and then help my family. I’m happy that I passed the test.
We should all be grateful for everything we have. We should also think about how we can use what we have to help our country.


IAS Bio: Do you have a word for UPSC candidates?


Taskeen Khan: Life isn’t easy at all. We all suffer a lot. My father was in the ICU while I was taking my preliminary and major exams. But, thank goodness, I got through it. Only because my parents and a few of my friends helped me along the way.


IAS Bio: We found out that you are very good at imitating people.


Taskeen Khan: I mimic like I did in the play. With my playing, I could sometimes make my family happy.
